About Red Cliffs.

Red Cliffs is a township rich in community spirit and fertile soils, named after the Red Cliffs that frame the river banks.

Displayed in the town’ s central parkland called “Barclay Square” is a one-of-a-kind tractor called Big Lizzie.

The 100 year old tractor is famous for its history in clearing the land in Red Cliffs for a proposed 6,000 ha irrigation area of Red Cliffs. This was to provide 700 Soldier Settlement blocks for veterans of World War 1.

The cleared land also made way for irrigation which provided a fertile environment for growing sultanas and various other fruits and vegetables. Beyond the original irrigated area, huge paddocks of broad-acre crops now grow.
